Tenerife Approves €16 Million Project to Rehabilitate TF-1 Motorway
Tenerife has approved a €16 million project to rehabilitate an 18-kilometer stretch of the TF-1 motorway to improve safety and manage heavy daily traffic.
Tenerife is entering the final stage of a major road improvement project after the island council approved the rehabilitation of the TF-1 motorway between the capital and the Güímar Valley. The council has allocated 16 million euros to the project, which aims to manage the heavy traffic on a route used by nearly 70,000 vehicles every day.
The project was officially approved this Wednesday by vice presidents Lope Afonso and José Miguel Ruano, marking the end of the administrative process. After a public review period that resolved two minor claims, the project is now ready to move forward. Once the contract is formally awarded, work can begin.
This 18-kilometer stretch is a vital part of Tenerife’s transport network. To keep the work efficient, the project has been divided into two sections. The investment is essential for maintaining the road, which experiences significant wear and tear due to high traffic volumes. By renewing the pavement and focusing on preventive maintenance, the council aims to improve safety and keep traffic moving smoothly through one of the island's busiest economic and residential hubs.
