Tenerife Announces Return of ‘Mysterious Los Realejos’ Cultural Event for 2026
The Los Realejos City Council in Tenerife will host the free "Mysterious Los Realejos 2026" event from October 24 to 31, featuring historical walks, expert lectures, and cemetery musical performances to celebrate local folklore and heritage.
Tenerife is making the preservation of local traditions and history a key part of its cultural calendar. The Los Realejos City Council has announced that the "Mysterious Los Realejos 2026" event will return from October 24 to 31. This free program explores oral history, local folklore, and the study of death through a variety of activities.
Organized by the Department of Historical Heritage and Festivities, the event is divided into three main parts: guided historical walks, a lecture series at the Casa de La Parra, and musical performances in local cemeteries.
The event kicks off on October 24 and 25 with guided hikes along the Camino de las Vueltas, an old path that once connected Tigaiga and Icod el Alto. Participants will learn about the history of this route and hear stories passed down through generations. Those interested in joining the walks must register in advance through the local council.
From October 26 to 30, the Casa de La Parra will host nightly talks at 8:00 p.m. featuring a range of experts. Topics will include unexplained phenomena, the history of Christopher Columbus, the art of death and mourning in the past, rituals and environmental justice, and the study of the paranormal.
The event concludes on October 31, the eve of All Souls' Day, with performances by the Pentafonías Brass Quintet. The group will play chamber music inside the municipal cemeteries, offering a reflective and symbolic end to the program. By blending history with local customs, the initiative highlights the importance of keeping Tenerife’s cultural heritage alive for modern audiences. All events are free to attend.
