The Cabildo of Tenerife has announced a record-breaking €14 million education grant package for the 2026/2027 academic year, aimed at supporting over 6,000 students with a significant focus on accessibility and special educational needs.

Tenerife is making a record-breaking investment in education. The Cabildo has approved a €14 million grant package for the 2026/2027 academic year, the largest in the island's history and an increase from last year’s €13 million.

The program aims to support over 6,000 students by focusing on accessibility and inclusion. A key part of this strategy is a €3 million fund specifically for students with special educational needs—tripling the previous amount—to help remove long-standing barriers to learning.

The funding is divided to cover a wide range of educational paths:

  • University studies: €8 million for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees.
  • Artistic studies and Vocational Training: €500,000 each.
  • Mobility and transport: Additional support for Erasmus students and travel costs.

Cabildo President Rosa Dávila stated that this initiative is part of a long-term plan to support nearly 30,000 households during her term. Efraín Medina, the Minister of Employment, Education, and Youth, emphasized that the program is designed to be flexible, adapting to the diverse financial and geographic needs of students across the island.

The official guidelines will be published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Applications must be submitted by October 30, 2026. At that time, the Cabildo will provide full details on the required documentation and eligibility criteria. Ultimately, the goal is to ease the financial pressure that higher and professional education places on local families.
