Tenerife is significantly expanding its air connectivity for the 2026 season with new domestic and international routes designed to boost tourism, support local logistics, and reduce seasonal economic reliance.

Tenerife is set for a major boost in air travel for the 2026 summer season, strengthening its position as a key logistics hub in the Atlantic. According to the Tenerife Island Council, airlines are expanding their services to reach a wider variety of markets. This strategy is designed to help reduce seasonal tourism fluctuations and make travel easier for local residents.

This growth means more frequent flights and several new direct routes. Within Spain, connections to the mainland are being strengthened, with flights to Madrid increasing to 74 per week and daily service to Vigo. Other routes to cities including Asturias, Valencia, Seville, Badajoz, Valladolid, San Sebastián, Granada, Pamplona, and Murcia are also being solidified.

International travel is expanding as well, with a focus on key European markets. Air France has increased its flights to Paris-Charles de Gaulle, and there will now be four weekly flights to Lisbon. The island’s network is also growing to include new connections to cities in Italy, Romania, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Portugal.

This expansion will continue beyond the summer months. The winter schedule will introduce several new international carriers: Air Canada will launch direct flights to Toronto and Montreal, Air Serbia will begin service to Belgrade, and airBaltic will start operations to Ljubljana, Liège, Palanga, and Groningen.

From an economic standpoint, this increased capacity is part of a plan to rely less on traditional markets. Better connectivity not only brings in more visitors but also supports local businesses by opening up new transport links and making the island more competitive in European and transatlantic markets.
