Tenerife is significantly expanding its domestic and international flight connectivity for the 2026 season to boost economic competitiveness and diversify its tourism markets.

Tenerife is set for a major boost in air travel for the 2026 summer season, strengthening its position as a key logistics hub in the Atlantic. According to the Tenerife Island Council, airlines are expanding their routes, which will help attract a more diverse range of visitors throughout the year and make it easier for residents to travel.

This increase in flights is part of a plan to improve connectivity across the board. Within Spain, flights to Madrid will rise to 74 per week, while daily service to Asturias, Valencia, and Vigo is being solidified. The island will also maintain existing routes to Valladolid, San Sebastián, Granada, Pamplona, and Murcia, while adding new flights to Seville and Badajoz.

International travel is also expanding, with new connections to hubs in Italy, Romania, the Czech Republic, Portugal, and Sweden. Notably, Air France is increasing its service to Paris-Charles de Gaulle, and the Portuguese airline is boosting its Lisbon route to four flights per week.

Looking beyond the summer, the island plans to grow its transatlantic and Eastern European links. Starting next autumn, Air Canada will launch direct flights to Toronto and Montreal, and Air Serbia will begin service to Belgrade. Additionally, the winter season will see airBaltic introduce new routes to Ljubljana, Liège, Palanga, and Groningen.

This growth is about more than just meeting demand; it is a strategic move to reduce the island's reliance on traditional tourism markets. By improving air links, Tenerife is boosting its economic competitiveness, ensuring a steady flow of visitors, and better connecting its residents to the rest of Europe.
