Tenerife Announces Full Festive Calendar for 2026
Tenerife will host a comprehensive calendar of traditional festivals throughout 2026, spanning from April to November to celebrate the island's cultural heritage and community identity.
Tenerife’s full festive calendar is set to return in 2026, showcasing the enduring strength of the island’s cultural traditions. These celebrations are more than just entertainment; they bring communities together and celebrate the island's unique identity, drawing thousands of people to events across the north, south, and metropolitan areas.
The festive season runs from late April through late autumn, involving around twenty different towns. It kicks off on April 26 with the San Marcos festivities in Tegueste, followed by a series of traditional folk dances and pilgrimages. May is particularly busy, with major events in Santa Cruz, Los Realejos, Candelaria, Tejina, Guía de Isora, El Rosario, El Sauzal, Fasnia, Güímar, and San Matías.
The summer schedule is carefully planned to keep the momentum going. June features key celebrations in La Orotava, Tacoronte, Igueste, Icod el Alto, and Granadilla de Abona. In July, traditions take center stage in La Laguna with the San Benito festivities, alongside events in Puerto de la Cruz and Candelaria. The summer remains active through August with celebrations in Garachico, La Victoria, Arafo, and Los Abrigos, followed by September pilgrimages in El Médano and San Miguel de Abona.
The calendar continues well into the final months of the year, with events in Geneto and Adeje scheduled for October and November. This ongoing commitment to local festivals is vital for preserving Tenerife’s heritage. It serves as a way to pass down rural and folkloric customs to younger generations, successfully blending the island’s historic centers with its growing modern communities.
