Tenerife Announces Finalists for 15th International Young Designers Contest
The Tenerife Island Council has announced the seven international finalists for the 15th International Young Designers Contest, which will culminate in a runway show on June 4 during Tenerife International Fashion Week.
The Tenerife Island Council has reached a new milestone in its mission to professionalize the textile industry by selecting the seven finalists for the 15th International Young Designers Contest. The final runway show will take place on June 4 at the Tenerife Trade Fair Center, serving as a highlight of the island’s International Fashion Week.
The finalists represent a diverse range of global talent. The selected designers are Eva Gómez (Vitoria), Yeremay Hidalgo (Gran Canaria), Noé González de la Rosa (Tenerife), Yusef González Perdomo (El Hierro), Ni Luh Desy and IKadek Dode (Indonesia), Johannes Senior Paz (Venezuela), and Leonardo Mena (Mexico).
The selection process, overseen by the Minister of Employment and Education, Efraín Medina, was highly competitive. With over 70 applications from across Europe and Latin America, the jury looked beyond aesthetics. They prioritized commercial viability, innovation, and technical skill—qualities the Council believes are essential for new designers to succeed in today’s market.
This contest is a key part of the Tenerife Moda 2024-2027 Strategic Plan, which aims to balance creativity with sustainability and promote the local brand internationally. By assembling a jury of experts from fields like business, photography, and education, the Council provides finalists with a platform to launch their professional careers. The success of this year’s competition reinforces Tenerife’s role as a hub for emerging design and its commitment to supporting the next generation of the fashion industry.
