Tenerife's Department of Culture has allocated €674,000 for 2026 to support established cultural organizations, ensuring the stability and projection of the island's artistic activities.

Tenerife's Department of Culture has set aside 674,000 euros for cultural groups in 2026. These grants are for organisations with a proven history and strong ties to the island.

The insular vice president, Lope Afonso, explained that this funding will help ensure the "stability, operation, and projection of key activities that form the backbone of Tenerife's cultural life." He and the head of the department, José Carlos Acha, met with representatives from the groups receiving the money.

Here's a breakdown of who is getting funding:

  • Tenerife Federation of Music Bands: 360,000 euros
  • University of La Laguna (for cultural projects and the Paraninfo program): 86,000 euros
  • Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country of Tenerife: 25,000 euros
  • Institute of Canarian Studies: 20,000 euros
  • Royal Academy of Medicine of Santa Cruz de Tenerife: 20,000 euros
  • Canarian Academy of the Language: 15,000 euros
  • Institute of Hispanic Studies of the Canary Islands: 15,000 euros
  • Ateneo de La Laguna: 15,000 euros
  • Círculo de Bellas Artes: 15,000 euros
  • Association of Booksellers of Tenerife-Aprolite (for the Book Fair): 15,000 euros
  • Federation of Carnival Rondallas: 15,000 euros
  • Orfeón La Paz Cultural Association: 10,000 euros
  • Canaria Foundation of Flamenco Art: 6,000 euros

Mr. Acha added that this budget shows the Cabildo's dedication to supporting "those who create culture year-round and throughout the territory." He recognised their work as vital for making culture accessible, diverse, and high-quality on the island.
