The Tenerife Island Council has allocated over 2 million euros to 33 non-profit organizations to bolster social assistance and provide essential goods to residents facing economic hardship in 2026.

Tenerife is boosting its social assistance strategy for the 2026 fiscal year. The Island Council (Cabildo Insular) has announced a budget of 2,044,000 euros to help organizations provide basic goods to those facing the greatest economic hardship on the island.

These funds will be managed through the 'Tenerife Isla Solidaria' network, overseen by Sinpromi and the Department of Social Action. A total of 33 non-profit organizations will distribute the aid. According to Councilor Águeda Fumero, this investment is necessary to help these groups keep up with rising costs and market changes. During a recent meeting at the Island Palace, Fumero highlighted that working closely with these private organizations is essential to ensuring the aid reaches those who need it most.

The initiative aims to do more than just cover immediate needs; it seeks to create a more efficient support system. By providing these organizations with the necessary funding, the Council hopes to ensure that services continue without interruption while fostering a coordinated network that can offer more personalized help to families.

As inflation continues to put pressure on island social services, the Cabildo is relying on these local partnerships to help manage the strain. The goal is to use this funding to provide greater stability for the families who rely on these essential support services.
