A 49-year-old man is under investigation at Tenerife North Airport after Civil Guard officers discovered 24 mobile phones, some reported stolen, in his luggage during a pre-flight inspection.
Civil Guard officers at Tenerife North Airport are investigating a 49-year-old man from El Fraile. He is accused of handling stolen goods.
The investigation began when Civil Guard officers, working with private security, used X-ray machines to inspect checked luggage and discovered 24 mobile phones in a single suitcase.
The man was about to board a flight to another country. Officers quickly located him.
When the suitcase's owner arrived, agents opened it and confirmed the large number of phones inside. However, the man could not prove he owned them or that they were legally obtained.
During the inspection, some of the devices were found to be listed as stolen in police databases.
The case has now been handed over to the judicial authorities.
