Tenerife Adjusts Public Transport Network for Summer Tourist Season
Tenerife’s transport operator Titsa is adjusting its summer bus schedule to increase service to popular coastal areas and beaches while reducing routes with lower demand to help alleviate peak-season traffic congestion.
Tenerife is adjusting its public transport network for the summer to help manage the island’s heavy traffic during the peak tourist season. Starting this Monday, the transport company Titsa will shift its focus toward coastal areas and popular beaches, just in time for the San Juan festivities.
This plan aims to provide a reliable alternative to driving, easing the pressure on roads leading to the coast. To achieve this, Titsa is bringing back specific bus routes, such as line 546 to Playa del Socorro and line 948 to the Benijo and Almáciga areas in the Anaga mountains.
The summer schedule also includes more frequent buses on busy routes. Weekend services will be increased for line 910 (Santa Cruz to Las Teresitas) and line 946 (Santa Cruz to Taganana and Almáciga). Additionally, there will be more trips to popular spots like Punta de Teno, Bajamar, Punta del Hidalgo, Mesa del Mar, El Rincón, and the Candelaria coastline, including Radazul, Tabaiba, and La Nea.
To balance these additions, the company is reducing services in areas where demand drops during the summer. University routes and certain shuttle services will be suspended until the new academic year begins. These changes are designed to use resources more efficiently, reduce traffic congestion, and lower the island's carbon footprint during the busy holiday months.
