Tenerife authorities have activated emergency protocols and urged remote work as Storm Therese approaches, prompting the University of La Laguna to move classes online.
Authorities in Tenerife have activated emergency protocols as Storm Therese approaches, with local media reporting that weather conditions are expected to worsen significantly. Officials are urging the public to stay indoors and avoid all unnecessary travel to ensure safety.
In response, the University of La Laguna has announced that all classes will move online this Thursday. Administrative staff are also being asked to work remotely where possible, though essential services will remain open under management supervision. All university sports and cultural events have been cancelled for the duration of the storm.
The Tenerife Island Council (Cabildo de Tenerife) has also advised both public and private sector employers to allow staff to work from home this Thursday and Friday. Council President Rosa Dávila emphasized that limiting travel is essential to reduce road congestion and keep residents safe during the severe weather.
