Tejina Hosts Annual 'Fiesta de la Pamela' Hat Festival This Saturday
The town of Tejina in La Laguna hosts its annual "Fiesta de la Pamela" this Saturday, featuring a creative hat design contest, live music, and enhanced public transport services.
The town of Tejina in La Laguna is gearing up for its traditional "Fiesta de la Pamela" (Hat Festival) this Saturday, August 15. The event has become a staple of the local calendar, celebrated for the creativity of participants who design their own unique hats to wear throughout the day.
The festivities will feature live music across two main locations: the Plaza de Tejina and the Plaza del Ramal. At the Plaza de Tejina, the fun kicks off at 3:00 p.m. with a DJ set, followed by performances from Grupo Atenia and Latin Sound, keeping the celebration going until the early hours of the morning.
A highlight of the festival is the hat design contest sponsored by Ron Guajiro, which rewards the most original entries. There are two categories: individual, with a 100-euro prize, and group, which requires at least three people and offers a 200-euro prize. To enter, participants should post a photo or video of their hat on their Instagram stories and tag the brand. Those with private profiles can submit their entries via direct message. The winners will be announced on Instagram at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16.
To help manage the large crowds and encourage safe travel, organizers have arranged extra service for public transport line 50. These additional buses will run from 2:15 p.m. to 1:15 a.m. to help visitors travel to and from the town without relying on private cars.
Events like the Fiesta de la Pamela do more than just boost the local economy; they bring the community together. By blending digital participation with collective creativity, the festival has become a vibrant cultural landmark for La Laguna, showing how modern traditions can breathe new life into public spaces.
