Teide Firefighters Rescue Multiple Hikers from Icy Paths
Firefighters conducted two separate rescues of hikers in Teide National Park on Tuesday, assisting one who fell on Montaña Blanca and another group near Altavista Refuge due to icy conditions.
On Tuesday, firefighters from La Orotava rescued a hiker who had fallen on Montaña Blanca in Teide National Park. The fall meant he couldn't continue his journey. After receiving help from the Red Cross, he was evacuated from the snowy and icy area. His companions then took him to the nearest health center.
Separately, around 3:40 PM, firefighters from Guía de Isora were called to El Teide while they were conducting a training exercise. They needed to rescue another group of hikers who were unable to continue their journey near the Altavista Refuge. A Fire Department statement explained that due to icy patches on the path, the firefighters accompanied the hikers to the cable car, preventing a possible accident.
