Tegueste to Host Civic Tribute for Footballer Pedri on August 11
The town of Tegueste will host a public tribute to footballer Pedri on August 11, featuring a balcony appearance and enhanced public transport services to accommodate expected crowds.
Tegueste is preparing for a major celebration on August 11, as the local City Council and the Tenerife Island Council host a tribute to footballer Pedro González, "Pedri," following his recent success with the Spanish national team. The main event begins at 5:00 p.m. at the municipal headquarters, where the athlete will greet fans from the Town Hall balcony.
Mayor Juan Norberto Padilla and Island President Rosa Dávila will attend the ceremony, which honors Pedri’s professional achievements and his connection to his hometown. The event is intended to be a celebration of local pride, bringing together the player’s family, public officials, and the community.
To manage the expected large crowds, authorities have worked with TITSA to create a special transport plan. Attendees are strongly encouraged to use public transport to avoid traffic congestion in the town center. TITSA has increased service on lines 050, 051, 052, and 057, providing direct links between the La Laguna Interchange and key areas in Tegueste, including Pedro Álvarez, El Socorro, Las Toscas, and Tacoronte.
Organizers have highlighted the event as a way for the community to show its gratitude to the footballer. The careful planning reflects the effort required to host such a large-scale event in a smaller town, ensuring that the day remains safe and accessible for all his supporters.
