Tegueste Announces 2026 Fiestas de Los Remedios Schedule
Tegueste has announced the 2026 Fiestas de Los Remedios, a cultural and religious celebration running from August 30 to September 20 that features the historic "La Librea" performance on September 11.
Tegueste is gearing up for a special season of celebrations, highlighted by the return of one of its most cherished traditions. Local officials have announced that the 2026 Fiestas de Los Remedios will run from August 30 to September 20, blending religious devotion with the town's unique cultural heritage.
The centerpiece of the festival is "La Librea," a performance dating back to the 17th century that has been recognized as an Asset of Cultural Interest since 2007. Directed by Telésforo Rodríguez, the show will take place on September 11 at 9:30 p.m. in the Plaza de San Marcos. More than just entertainment, this event honors a municipal vow made in 1583 and remains a vital part of Tegueste’s identity and community spirit.
Mayor Norberto Padilla, alongside festival and culture leads Eladia López and Roberto Díaz, has designed a program that balances traditional worship with community events. While religious services for the patron saint will be held at the Parish of San Marcos in early September, the schedule also includes a wide variety of sports and folk gatherings.
As the festivities draw to a close, the focus will shift to the El Lomo and El Infierno areas. Highlights include the "Vendimia de la Esperanza" (Harvest of Hope) on the morning of September 18, followed by a vineyard blessing on the 19th, which will follow a procession starting from Los Zamoranos. The competitive spirit will also be on display with the fourth annual Envite Championship, with the final matches and awards ceremony wrapping up the celebrations on Sunday, September 20. The program also features a range of musical performances and dances, ensuring there is something for everyone in the community to enjoy.
