Teenager Airlifted to Hospital After Fall in Tenerife

Emergency services faced a difficult rescue operation early this morning after an 18-year-old man fell from a significant height near Punta del Bocinegro, close to Montaña Roja in Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife.

The alarm was raised at approximately 1:30 a.m. when the victim, unable to move due to his injuries, required urgent assistance. The rescue was further complicated by the rising tide, which forced teams to work quickly to reach the man before the water rose.

The operation involved the Tenerife Fire Consortium, the Civil Guard, and the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC). Due to the difficult terrain, a Maritime Safety Helimer helicopter was deployed to airlift the man to Tenerife South Airport. From there, he was transferred to a medicalized aircraft and taken to the Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria Hospital, where he remains under care.

The Civil Guard is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall, including the possibility that it was a self-harm attempt.
