The latest edition of Tecnológica Santa Cruz has reinforced the Canary Islands' position as a digital innovation hub by hosting a multidisciplinary forum focused on technology, ethics, and local talent development.

The latest edition of Tecnológica Santa Cruz has cemented its status as a key hub for digital innovation in the Canary Islands. Despite being delayed by bad weather, the event successfully turned the Museum of Nature and Archaeology (MUNA) into a lively forum for discussing how digital tools shape our daily lives, drawing even larger crowds than expected.

Spanning four days across MUNA and the Tenerife Arts Space (TEA), the event went beyond a typical tech showcase to explore the intersection of communication, ethics, and career growth. Speakers from fields as diverse as meteorology, science, entertainment, and security gathered to discuss how algorithms and information overload affect the content we consume. A central theme was the need to make technical knowledge accessible to everyone, ensuring that technology brings people together rather than driving them apart.

This year’s program was notably multidisciplinary. After the opening ceremony, sessions covered topics like personal branding and managing digital communities, featuring insights from entrepreneurs and screenwriters. A key highlight is this Friday’s roundtable, which focuses on young talent in the Canary Islands, questioning whether young professionals must leave the islands to succeed or if they can find meaningful opportunities at home.

The event shifts to a more hands-on approach over the weekend. The TEA will host "TecnoPlay," a free area featuring video game tournaments and chess matches with international experts. Meanwhile, "TecnoHack" will challenge forty participants, split into eight teams, to create new technological solutions using the City Council’s open data to improve urban management. By blending expert talks with practical problem-solving, the event highlights Tenerife’s 15-year commitment to building an innovation ecosystem that connects local talent with the global market.
