Tecnológica Santa Cruz Highlights Digital Innovation and Gen Z Engagement
The 15th edition of Tecnológica Santa Cruz is underway in Tenerife, bringing together experts and the next generation to foster digital transformation and business innovation across the Canary Islands.
The 15th edition of Tecnológica Santa Cruz is cementing its status as a key event for digital transformation in the Canary Islands. Organizers say the event aims to bridge the gap between technical innovation and the local business community. Taking place from March 19 to 22 at TEA Tenerife and the Museum of Nature and Archaeology (MUNA), this year’s program focuses on involving the next generation in the conversation about our digital future.
Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez officially opened the event, which highlights Generation Z this year. The goal is to recognize digital natives as active participants in today’s technological landscape. Carmen Pérez, head of the Development Society, has curated an agenda that moves beyond simply showcasing new gadgets. Instead, it focuses on sharing knowledge and applying digital tools to business—a vital step for the competitiveness of local small and medium-sized enterprises.
The program brings together academics, technical experts, and content creators. It kicks off on the 19th with "TecnoEduca" at MUNA. This segment is designed for the educational community and features experts like Luis Astor, Tatiana O. Gutiérrez, Jacob C. Rodríguez Torres, Marina López, and Antonio Bolaños. They will cover a wide range of topics, from the future of learning to the impact of drones and digital advertising.
Following this, a series of presentations—with tickets priced at two euros for charity—will explore ethics, automation, and the relationship between humans and algorithms. Speakers include oceanographer Mercedes Martín, screenwriter Jordi Moltó, science communicator Rocío Vidal, content creator Andrea Sánchez, engineer Verownika, comedian Soraya Nárez, emergency responder Miguel Assal, and Adecco Foundation ambassador Caterina Moretti. Additionally, MUNA’s Flamboyán courtyard will host "TecnoLabs," offering hands-on space for practical experimentation.
The event is more than just a showcase for trends; it serves as a forum to discuss how society and businesses are adapting to digitalization. With celebrations that included a video mapping show on the MUNA facade, the event reinforces Tenerife’s ambition to become a leading hub for technology in the region.
