Teatro Victoria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife concludes its annual program this Saturday with a performance by the Burkinabe company Fientan, showcasing inclusive contemporary dance through works by Aïcha Coulibaly and Yaya Sanou.

Teatro Victoria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will close its annual program this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with a special performance by the Burkinabe company Fientan. The event aims to highlight the importance of integration in the performing arts, focusing on inclusive teaching and personal resilience as the foundations of contemporary dance.

The evening features two distinct performances. First, dancer Aïcha Coulibaly, who is deaf, will present Ombre d’Aïcha. This piece is a deeply personal work where Coulibaly uses movement to process her life experiences, turning past challenges into a powerful form of artistic expression.

Following this, Yaya Sanou, the leader of the company, will perform Yirri-Koro. Sanou is well-known for developing methods that help people with disabilities participate in dance. In this solo performance, he explores the connection between his ancestral traditions and the perspectives of the younger generation, blending heritage with modern dance.

Fientan’s visit to Tenerife highlights the role of cultural venues as spaces for international exchange and accessibility. Sanou’s work not only brings artistic value to the stage but also supports the ongoing movement to make dance more inclusive, working to remove the physical and sensory barriers that have historically limited who can participate in the arts.
