TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes is presenting "Óscar Domínguez gráfico," an exhibition of nearly 300 pieces illuminating the artist's significant yet often-overlooked work as an engraver and illustrator.

An exhibition at TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, called "Óscar Domínguez gráfico," is shining a light on Óscar Domínguez's work as an engraver and illustrator. This part of his art is often less known than his paintings, but it's now getting the attention it deserves. The gallery states that this show, featuring nearly 300 pieces, is crucial for understanding the complete legacy of the artist, who was born in Tenerife in 1906 and passed away in Paris in 1957.

As part of the exhibition, there will be a free guided tour tomorrow, Friday, at 5:00 PM. It will be led by Isidro Hernández, who co-curated the show with Jorge Rodríguez de Rivera. The exhibition itself is free to enter and runs until March 15. It's open from Tuesday to Sunday, and on holidays, between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM, offering a deep look into Domínguez's graphic art.

This collection of work covers a wide range, from his collaborations with writers of the 'Generation of the Republic' and magazines like Gaceta de Arte, to his contributions for Guy Lévis Mano's publishing house in Paris. The exhibition also showcases the lithographic posters he designed, his engraving work during the World War II occupation of Paris and the period immediately after, and his pieces in collective books.

This exhibition is important because it confirms that Domínguez's graphic art was not just a minor pursuit. Instead, it was a discipline he practiced with great originality and consistency, deserving of thorough study and display. Following a detailed cataloging effort by Rodríguez de Rivera and Hernández, the project will conclude this quarter with the release of its official catalog. This book will, for the first time, include a substantial section dedicated to Paul Éluard's well-known book "Poésie et vérité, 1942," which Domínguez illustrated in 1947, offering an even more complete view of this artistic side of his work.
