TEA Tenerife Launches "La Plaza" Program with Decolonial Archive Workshop
TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes is launching its "La Plaza" program with a decolonial workshop led by Tania Safura Adam Mogne focused on preserving African diaspora archives.
TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes is launching its new "La Plaza" program with a focus on reclaiming historical memory through a decolonial lens. To kick off the season, researcher and curator Tania Safura Adam Mogne will lead a seminar on managing documentary collections related to the African diaspora and Afro-descendant identity.
The workshop, titled "Black Counter-Archive Laboratory: Preserving Black Existences Against the Silence of History," aims to give participants the tools to challenge mainstream narratives that have often ignored or sidelined these stories. The seminar is divided into three parts: gathering materials, organizing and cataloging them, and finding ways to share them with the public through exhibitions or publications.
The sessions are designed for creators and academics who view artistic research as a way to achieve historical justice. By exploring "counter-archives," the workshop highlights how preserving these stories acts as a form of resistance against institutional silence—a topic of growing importance in contemporary Spanish cultural studies.
The workshop will be held this Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. While attendance is free, registration is required. To sign up, please email laplaza.tallerestea@gmail.com with your full name, a copy of your ID (DNI, NIE, or equivalent), and a contact phone number.
