TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes is hosting a free, six-session workshop led by Antonio López Ortega that invites participants to explore the literary art of letter writing through the study of renowned authors.

In an age dominated by the instant nature of digital messaging, the art of letter writing—once a primary tool for reflection—is making a comeback. To celebrate this, TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes is hosting a workshop series titled The Art of Epistolary Genres, designed to help participants rediscover the narrative depth of traditional correspondence through the study of world-renowned authors.

Led by writer and cultural manager Antonio López Ortega, the program consists of six afternoon sessions held on Tuesdays from September 8 to October 13, running from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The course goes beyond theory, encouraging students to use personal diaries as a form of self-reflection and to explore how the tone of a letter changes depending on whether it is intended for family, a romantic partner, or a social acquaintance.

The curriculum features a critical look at the works of literary giants, including Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, Marguerite Yourcenar, Franz Kafka, and Antonin Artaud. López Ortega, who brings extensive experience from institutions like the Sorbonne and the CELARG Foundation, will combine lectures with writing assignments and group critiques to help students refine their craft.

This workshop is offered free of charge and complements the center’s current exhibition on the correspondence between Óscar Domínguez and Marcelle Ferry. Because space is limited, those interested must register in advance by emailing talleres.tea@protonmail.com. It is a unique opportunity to study literary technique under the guidance of an expert in Hispanic and Spanish cultural management.
