TEA in Tenerife concludes the year with four new exhibitions
The TEA art space in Tenerife is closing out the year with four new exhibitions covering the themes of community, a retrospective of Néstor Martín-Fernández de la Torre, the Fotonoviembre photography biennial, and graphic works by Óscar Domínguez.
TEA (Tenerife Espacio de las Artes) is preparing to end the year with four new exhibitions. Currently, it hosts a large-scale exhibition "Rebellion and Discipline. A Possible History of Art Groups of the Canary Islands Based on the TEA Collection", where you can see how art in Tenerife and the Canary Islands has developed over the past century. It is open until October 26. And then there will be new interesting events.
Already on October 17, MiniTEA will open a mini-exhibition "One for All and All for One". The title alludes to the famous motto of "The Three Musketeers". The exhibition will consist of a dozen works from the museum's collection and will be dedicated to the theme of community. What is a community? What communities do we belong to (school, family, sports team)? What is our role in them? And how does belonging to a community affect us? MiniTEA invites you to think about this.
The next exhibition will be "Nestor Rediscovered". This is a large retrospective of works by the Canarian artist Nestor Martín-Fernández de la Torre (1887-1938). From October 24, you will be able to see about 200 of his works: paintings, murals, architectural projects and sketches of theatrical scenery. TEA is organizing this exhibition together with the Reina Sofía National Art Museum and the Nestor Museum. The curator of the exhibition is art historian Juan Vicente Aliaga. It will be open until March 1, 2026.
Another important event is the opening of the eighteenth Fotonoviembre on November 14. This is a biennial dedicated to photography. Curators Marta Daho and Dalia de la Rosa want us to think about photography as a way of expression and communication. Fotonoviembre is known for its quality and large number of participants. The exhibition will run until February 22 and will showcase current trends in photography and its connection to other art forms.
And to conclude the year, on December 12, the exhibition "Óscar Domínguez - Engraver" will open. It will run until March 15. Curators Isidro Hernández and Jorge Rodríguez de Rivera will show a little-known side of Domínguez's work - his work as an illustrator of poetic books, engraver and author of serial works. His poster sketches will also be presented, some of which were never printed. For example, a poster for the French wine magazine Nicolas (1937) or a sketch for Jean-Paul Sartre's play "The Flies" (1947).
