Tapas Route Returns to Northeast La Laguna After Years
The Tapas Route is returning to Northeast La Laguna from March 16th to 31st, offering local "zero-kilometer" tapas and drinks for 4 euros to boost the local economy and showcase regional identity.
The Tapas Route is returning to Northeast La Laguna after several years. This move by the City Council's Department of Commerce aims to boost the local economy and spread promotional activities across the area. The council announced that this food event will take place in Tejina, Valle de Guerra, Punta del Hidalgo, and Bajamar from March 16th to 31st.
This event is part of a larger council strategy to support local businesses and encourage people to spend money in various neighborhoods and towns. The Department of Commerce hopes to create economic activity, attract visitors, and strengthen local businesses, all while showcasing the region's unique identity through its food. To encourage people to try different places and explore the towns, a unified price of 4 euros for a tapa and a drink has been set.
The tapas will feature dishes made with local, "zero-kilometer" products, aiming to strengthen the connection between food and the region. This initiative is supported by organizations such as FAUCA, the La Laguna Commercial Zone Business Association (LLZC), and Volcanic Xpirence, as part of an ongoing effort to link economic development with local identity.
Iván Pérez, president of the La Laguna Commercial Zone business association, believes this route is an opportunity to showcase the culinary talent of the northeast and encourage cooperation among businesses. Pérez emphasizes that these kinds of initiatives create positive interactions, attract more people, and help establish the municipality as a top food destination.
The council reports that, after several years away, the initial response from local restaurants and bars has been positive, with many businesses signing up. More than just boosting sales, the event aims to strengthen regional roots and identity, promoting a sustainable business model that fits each town's unique character. Restaurants and bars in Tejina, Valle de Guerra, Punta del Hidalgo, and Bajamar that want to take part have until March 15th to register. This initiative aims to become a regular fixture on the municipal food calendar. The final list of participants and the full program will be announced in the coming weeks.
