Taganana Festival Returns to Anaga to Promote Culture and Sustainability
The seventh annual Taganana Festival returns to Santa Cruz de Tenerife on August 21 and 22, featuring a diverse lineup of music and arts alongside initiatives focused on local sustainability and education.
The seventh annual Taganana Festival is set to bring culture to the heart of the Anaga massif in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. More than just a summer event, the festival aims to support the local economy while promoting long-term sustainability and education in this rural region.
Taking place on August 21 and 22, the festival will host 27 events across San Andrés and Taganana, featuring a mix of performing arts and contemporary music. The lineup is headlined by composer Sara Socas, with additional performances from Aníbal & Lajalada, Lornoar & Michel Mbarga, and Víctor Carballeira. The "El Mortero de Anaga" market will also return, highlighting local artisans and producers.
Education is a key focus this year. Directed by Mary Carnero, the festival’s pedagogical program will continue into September, visiting local schools. This initiative is tied to the "Festival Taganana Cares for Anaga" project, which works to restore the area’s unique thermophilic forest.
The festival begins on August 21 at the Plaza de Las Adelfas with the opening of the "Discover Anaga" photography exhibition. Entries for the contest are open until August 3, with cash prizes of 300 and 150 euros for the top two photos. The opening day will also feature performances by Clownbaret and Fer Catastrofer.
