Taganana Festival Launches Photography Contest Celebrating Anaga Biosphere Reserve
The seventh annual Taganana Festival has opened registration for a photography contest inviting participants to capture the ecological and cultural essence of the Anaga massif by August 3.
The seventh annual Taganana Festival is officially underway, and organizers have opened registration for its photography contest. The competition aims to showcase the unique character of the Anaga massif, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, by capturing its ecological beauty and its rich social and cultural history.
The contest encourages photographers to explore the delicate balance between preserving this landscape and the human activity that takes place within it. Interested participants have until August 3 to submit their original, unpublished work. Each photographer may enter up to two images, which must be submitted digitally via the festival’s official email address, along with the required contact details.
To ensure authenticity, the rules strictly limit digital editing to basic adjustments in lighting and tone; complex manipulation is not permitted. A jury will announce the winners between August 10 and 16. The first-place winner will receive 300 euros, and the runner-up will receive 150 euros. Additionally, the 15 best entries will be featured in an exhibition during the festival, held on August 21 and 22.
Full contest rules and submission guidelines are available on the festival’s official website. This initiative serves as both a creative outlet for photographers and a way to celebrate and protect the fragile, complex identity of the Anaga region.
