Tadej Pogačar Confirms Vuelta a España Entry to Pursue Historic Triple Crown

Tadej Pogačar is set to make history. UAE Team Emirates has officially confirmed that the Slovenian star will compete in this year’s La Vuelta a España, putting him in position to attempt an unprecedented "triple crown"—winning all three Grand Tours in a single calendar year.

This marks Pogačar’s return to the Spanish race for the first time since his debut in 2019, where he finished third and won three stages. With Jonas Vingegaard sidelined while recovering from injuries sustained at the Tour de France, the path is clear for Pogačar to chase a milestone that no cyclist has ever achieved in one season.

The race begins on August 22 in Monaco and covers 3,275 kilometers, featuring seven summit finishes and two individual time trials before ending in Granada on September 13. Pogačar will lead a strong UAE Team Emirates squad that includes João Almeida, Jay Vine, Pavel Sivakov, Pablo Torres, Kevin Vermaerke, Domen Novak, and Ivo Oliveira.

Beyond the goal of winning the red jersey, Pogačar is carefully managing his schedule to ensure he remains at peak form for the World Championships in Canada at the end of September, where he hopes to defend his world road title. Led by sports directors Marco Marcato, Manuele Mori, and Tomas Gil, the team is now focused on maintaining their dominant form through the final stretch of the season.
