Tacoronte Healthcare Modernization Plans Advance Following Revised Tender Strategy
The Canary Islands government is revising plans to modernize the Tacoronte health center following a failed initial tender, with a new bidding process expected early next year and construction slated for 2027.
Plans to modernize healthcare facilities in Tacoronte are moving forward after an initial attempt to tender the project failed. Like many public works projects today, the original bid struggled due to rising construction costs and a shortage of skilled labor. To address this, the regional government is now revising the project’s technical requirements.
During a recent meeting at the Tacoronte town hall, regional officials, Mayor Sandra Izquierdo, and local community groups discussed the updated plan. The focus is now on completing the first phase of the facility, which is essential for opening the northern section of the building. This expansion will provide more consultation rooms and connect the new space with the existing clinic.
The project also includes vital infrastructure upgrades, such as improving sewage and rainwater systems and installing a new electrical transformer to meet the site’s energy needs.
The Canary Islands government expects to finalize these technical adjustments within two and a half months. The goal is to open the project for bidding early next year, with construction scheduled to begin in the spring of 2027. This timeline is a direct response to the Tacoronte-El Sauzal Health Center Users Association, which has made these improvements a top priority to ensure better care for the community.
