Tacoronte Council Slashes Supplier Payment Times, Boosts Financial Health
Tacoronte City Council has significantly improved its financial management, drastically reducing supplier payment times to an average of 17.21 days and demonstrating robust fiscal health through a recent audit.
Tacoronte City Council's finances are running much more smoothly this term. This is clear from how quickly they're paying their suppliers and from an audit of the Canary Islands Financing Fund.
At a recent council meeting, officials shared the latest figures on supplier payments for the third quarter of this year. The numbers show a big improvement over the past two years. The average time it took to pay suppliers has dropped dramatically, from 251 days in the third quarter of 2023 to just 17.21 days between July and September 2025. This is even better than the previous quarter, when payments took an average of 20.19 days.
The Finance Department has managed to achieve the shortest payment period to businesses and freelancers in the last decade. Eduardo Dávila, the councillor in charge of finance, said this shows the "efficient and responsible work" of the department in meeting legal payment deadlines.
The council also reviewed an audit of the Canary Islands Financing Fund, dated December 31, 2024. Dávila described it as a "snapshot" of the council's finances for 2024, which, like the payment times, highlights the excellent work of the Intervention team. He thanked them for their hard work and dedication.
The audit report noted that the council is now following procedures and processing times correctly, something that hadn't happened for several years. Tacoronte's financial health has objectively improved. Key indicators show the best results in recent years, with debt per person falling to 323 euros – half of what it was in 2023. The average payment time is now around 17 days, meeting the required limits.
Dávila added that this improved situation builds trust with suppliers, companies, and self-employed individuals who work with the council, as they will no longer face long waits for payment. He also pointed out that budget spending and investment have significantly increased, from 77 euros per person in 2023 to 183 euros in 2024.
