Melania Suárez claimed her fourth Open LPA Surf City title and was crowned 2025 Pro Surf League champion, while Luis Díaz won the men's event and revalidated his national title.

Melania Suárez ended 2025 on a high note. Just weeks after winning the Spanish Championship at Tenerife PRO Las Américas, the surfer from La Laguna secured another major victory at the Open LPA Surf City 2025. This win also crowned her the champion of the 2025 Pro Surf League.

The event, held in La Cícer, saw Suárez face Silke Martínez from the Basque Country in the first women's semifinal. Suárez won the heat, not only earning her a spot in the final but also the title of 2025 national champion. In the other semifinal, Enara Palacios advanced to the final with a score of 8.66, beating Adriana Hidalgo, who impressed with an 8.23 from just two waves. The women's final of the Open LPA Surf City 2025 then took place under the blue skies of La Playa de las Canteras, featuring powerful waves and an exciting contest between Suárez and Palacios. Suárez's best score was a 7.35 on her third wave, while Palacios scored 6.33.

Having already been crowned the 2025 Pro Surf League champion, Melania Suárez dominated the Canarian tournament with a series of turns that thrilled the crowd. This marks Suárez's fourth Open LPA Surf City title, making history once again at La Cícer wave. Adriana Hidalgo from the Canary Islands finished in third place, with Silke Martínez from the Basque Country taking fourth.

In the men's competition, after the third round, the surfers who qualified for the semifinals were Andy Criere, who achieved the day's highest score of 17.23, along with Canarian surfers Luis Díaz and Kalani Da Silva, and Néstor García from Cantabria. The latter three also had a chance to win the national league title. The first semifinal saw Néstor García deliver a formidable performance, almost securing his spot in the final with his first maneuver, an impressive 9.17 – nearly a perfect wave and the best of the entire championship. Luis Díaz and Andy Criere then put on a masterclass in their semifinal, keeping the tension high until the very end. Díaz ultimately advanced to the final with a total score of 12.90, a victory that also revalidated his national champion title.

In the final, Néstor García showed great courage and put on a spectacular display. However, Luis Díaz's experience and deep connection with the waves proved superior, as he delivered an impressive performance to win with a final score of 15.50. Kalani Da Silva from Fuerteventura, who had a spectacular championship, finished in third place, and Andy Criere from the Basque Country took fourth.

The day concluded with the Open Tag Team competition, which offered a prize of 1,500 euros. This innovative format highlighted how both competitiveness and camaraderie are central to the sport. The Fuerte Team, consisting of Janina Zeitler, Kalani Da Silva, and Kamiel Deraeve, emerged as the winners. In second place were Los Chopiriders, made up of Melania Suárez, Hugo Hemerning, and Jan Bein.
