Storm Therese Forces Rescheduling of Events at Auditorio de Tenerife
The Auditorio de Tenerife has rescheduled several weekend events, including performances of Roméo et Juliette, due to safety protocols triggered by Storm Therese.
Storm Therese has forced the Auditorio de Tenerife to reschedule several events this weekend due to the activation of the Island Emergency Plan (PEIN). To ensure public safety during the storm, the venue has cancelled the fourth performance of Charles Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette and the second recital of the Musical Spring series, both originally set for Saturday.
With the emergency protocol in place until early Sunday morning, the Auditorium has scheduled an extra performance of the opera for 6:00 p.m. today, provided that weather conditions and official safety directives allow it.
Priority for this extra session is being given to Ópera de Tenerife subscribers affected by the previous cancellations. Tickets for the general public were released yesterday. The venue also confirmed that ticket refunds for the cancelled performances will be available starting this Monday.
These cancellations reflect how cultural events in the Canary Islands must often take a backseat to civil protection protocols during severe weather. Managing a large venue under these restrictive safety conditions highlights the challenge of balancing artistic programming with the priority of keeping the public safe.
