Storm Therese Causes Minor Damage in Northern Tenerife
Storm Therese caused minor infrastructure damage and temporary road closures in Los Silos, Tenerife, though no injuries were reported.
Storm Therese recently tested the infrastructure in northern Tenerife, causing minor damage that highlights how vulnerable coastal areas are to severe weather. Fortunately, there were no injuries, and the impact was largely contained to the municipality of Los Silos.
The most significant incident occurred at a greenhouse on the road between Sibora and La Caleta de Interián. Local Police Chief Roque Rodríguez reported that strong westerly winds damaged the structure, causing one of its interior supports to break away. This event serves as a reminder of the importance of safety protocols for agricultural sites near the coast, where the terrain and proximity to the Atlantic can intensify wind gusts.
To ensure public safety, authorities temporarily closed the coastal road as a precaution against rockfalls caused by heavy swells. Traffic returned to normal once the weather improved. The Los Silos local council has reassured residents that the greenhouse damage was an isolated incident and that the area remains safe.
