The Canary Islands are bracing for significant disruptions as Storm Therese brings heavy rain and strong winds to the region, forcing the postponement of local events.

Unsettled weather is returning to the Canary Islands this week as a new storm system, named Therese, moves into the region. As the nineteenth named low-pressure system of the season, Therese highlights the unusually high number of storms hitting the Atlantic this year.

Conditions are expected to worsen starting Wednesday, particularly in Tenerife. Forecasters are warning of persistent rain, strong winds, and rough seas. These conditions have already forced organizers to reschedule events; for instance, the Tecnológica Santa Cruz, originally planned for March 19th–22nd, has been pushed back to May.

This storm marks a sharp shift from the mild, stable weather the islands have enjoyed recently. With the change in conditions, authorities are urging residents to stay updated on the storm’s progress, as the high winds and rain may cause further disruptions to outdoor plans and local infrastructure.
