Stable Weather and High-Altitude Haze Forecast for Canary Islands

Source: El Día

The Canary Islands will experience stable, warm weather with high-altitude haze and gusty winds this Saturday, as temperatures reach up to 30°C in several regions.

Stable weather will continue across the Canary Islands this Saturday, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). High-altitude haze is expected throughout the archipelago, which may slightly reduce visibility, though it is not forecast to be intense at ground level.

In Tenerife, trade winds will pick up, with stronger gusts expected in the southeast and northwest. The north coast will see more cloud cover, while the rest of the island will remain clear. Temperatures will stay steady, though inland nighttime lows may drop slightly. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, temperatures will range from 23°C to 29°C, though some areas in the south and the metropolitan region could reach 30°C.

The rest of the islands will follow a similar stable pattern, with some regional variations. Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura will see the highest temperatures, potentially reaching or exceeding 30°C on the southern and western slopes of Gran Canaria and across the southern half of Fuerteventura. Similar highs are possible in the south and west of La Gomera and the southeast of Lanzarote. La Palma will be mostly clear, though low-lying areas in the north and east may see some clouds and light rain. El Hierro will remain clear with high-altitude haze and gusty winds at its northern and southern tips.

This dry, warm weather is typical of the high-pressure systems that often affect the islands. At sea, conditions will be rough to very rough, with northeast winds of force 4 to 5 and waves between one and two meters around Tenerife, La Gomera, and Gran Canaria. Caution is advised in exposed coastal areas, where wind conditions can change quickly.
