The large-scale sports exhibition ExpoDeca 2025, which brought together representatives of the authorities, sports organizations, and sports enthusiasts, has solemnly opened in Tenerife.

The Vice-President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez, along with other high-ranking officials – the Councillor for Education Poli Suárez, the President of the Cabildo of Tenerife Rosa Dávila, and the Mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife José Manuel Bermúdez – officially opened the ExpoDeca 2025 fair for physical activity and sports. The exhibition will run until Sunday at the Tenerife Exhibition Centre.

Other government representatives were also present at the opening, including the Deputy Councillor for Sports Ángel Sabroso, heads of sports departments José Francisco Pérez and Lorena Hernández, as well as the Vice-President of the Cabildo of Tenerife Lope Afonso and the Councillor for Sports Yolanda Moliné.

Manuel Domínguez emphasized that the Government of the Canary Islands pays great attention to sports. He noted that sport is not only health and education, but also an important part of the economy that creates jobs, attracts tourists and unites people. Domínguez also stressed the importance of cooperation between different organizations to support such events.

Poli Suárez added that ExpoDeca has become the largest sporting event in the Canary Islands, showcasing a variety of sports for all ages. The fair brings together sports federations, clubs, athletes, coaches, companies and ordinary people, which shows how developed sport is in the Canary Islands.

Rosa Dávila, President of the Cabildo of Tenerife, said that ExpoDeca is a place where tradition and modernity meet, local sports and new trends that are of interest to young people. She also stressed that sport should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age or ability.

The Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, noted that holding ExpoDeca at the exhibition centre confirms the importance of the city as an economic centre. He also added that the fair demonstrates the efforts of local clubs and federations, as well as the residents' love of sport.

Until Sunday, ExpoDeca will be the main sports platform in the islands, with the participation of about 160 organizations, universities, federations, clubs, athletes, experts and companies. The program includes exhibitions, lectures, discussions, competitions and sports activities for everyone. Admission to all events is free.
