Speculation Grows Over Potential Meeting Between Pope and Bad Bunny During Spain Visit
Speculation is mounting over a potential meeting between Pope Leo XIV and Bad Bunny during the pontiff's upcoming June visit to Spain, though the Vatican has yet to confirm any such plans.
Speculation is growing over a potential meeting between Pope Leo XIV and artist Bad Bunny during the Pope’s upcoming visit to Spain. The rumors began after the Cardinal Archbishop of Madrid, José Cobo, commented on the possibility in the Canary Islands press. While the Vatican has not confirmed any plans, the timing of the musician’s tour and the Pope’s arrival in Madrid on June 6 have sparked significant public interest.
The Archbishop of Madrid explained that while nothing is finalized, the Church remains open to engaging with the arts and culture. He noted that the Pope frequently meets with public figures, provided there is mutual interest and the meetings are handled with discretion. This approach reflects the Church's broader goal of connecting with sectors of society it does not typically reach.
The Pope’s visit, scheduled for June 6–12, begins in Madrid, where he will hold a vigil for young people at the Plaza de Lima on the same day as one of Bad Bunny’s concerts. The trip will then move to Barcelona before concluding in the Canary Islands, where the focus will shift to the migration crisis.
In the Canary Islands on June 11 and 12, the Pope is set to visit the port of Arguineguín and the Las Raíces reception center, hold masses at the Gran Canaria Stadium and the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and attend an integration event in La Laguna.
This contrast—between a potential meeting with a global music star and a serious focus on migration—highlights the diverse nature of the Pope’s visit. For now, any meeting with Bad Bunny remains purely speculative, depending on scheduling and the interest of both parties.
