Tenerife is set to host the Spartan Race 2025, the final event of the European season and the Spain National Series, attracting over 2,000 athletes from nearly 40 countries to compete across challenging city, beach, and natural landscapes.

Tenerife is once again in the spotlight of international sports with the upcoming Spartan Race Tenerife 2025. This event will be the final race of the European season and the grand finale of the Spain National Series. Puerto de la Cruz is gearing up to welcome thousands of participants from all over the world for a weekend packed with intensity, excitement, and an incredible sporting display.

Following the successful DEKA Tenerife 2025 event on November 15th and 16th in Los Realejos, which attracted nearly 2,000 athletes (with 75% coming from outside the island and 17.6% from 22 different countries), the Spartan spirit is alive and well in Tenerife with its main event: the most prestigious obstacle course races.

Spartan Race, with over 220 international events and more than 1.5 million runners annually, is known for its competitive and professional approach to obstacle course racing. However, it's also designed for athletes of all skill levels.

Spartan Race Tenerife 2025 will feature its three signature distances: the Sprint (5 km with 20 obstacles) on Saturday and Sunday; the Super (10 km with 25 obstacles) on Sunday; and the Beast (21 km with 30 obstacles) on Saturday. Additionally, there's the Kids Race for children aged 4 to 14 on Saturday, making it a complete sporting experience for the entire family. While Spartan races are known for being challenging, participants can complete them at their own pace and enjoy the experience as a team, which is something many runners value highly.

Key Figures and Top Competitors

Over 2,000 Spartans will compete on a stunning course in Tenerife that combines city, beach, and natural landscapes. Runners will enjoy unique views of Mount Teide, pass through banana plantations, and race on characteristic volcanic sand. The event's international appeal is clear: only 13.6% of participants are from Tenerife itself. A significant 45.8% are international, with notable numbers from Italy, Germany, Austria, and France, representing 36 different nationalities. Another 40.6% come from other parts of Spain. While men are the majority, female participation is growing, expected to be 27.72% of the total this year.

Tenerife will serve as the deciding location for the Spain National Series 2025, following races in Mallorca, Madrid, Andorra, and Barcelona. To be eligible for the overall standings, athletes must have participated in at least three events, including this final one.

The competition for the national title is expected to be fierce. In the men's category, Albert Soley and Pau Nacenta are very close competitors. For the women, the contest between Jessica Velasco and Petra Arvela will determine who is crowned the strongest and most consistent athlete of the year.

Lope Afonso, the Vice President and Minister of Tourism for the Cabildo de Tenerife, stated, "It is a source of pride for the island to host the final event of the European calendar. This event brings together athletes from nearly 40 nationalities and highlights our capability to organize top-tier competitions."
