Spanish U19 Squash Championship Presented in Santa Cruz

The Spanish Under-19 Squash Championship, featuring 37 athletes and a strong female presence, was officially presented at the Royal Nautical Club of Tenerife ahead of its January 23-25 run, making Santa Cruz a national squash hub.

The Spanish Under-19 Squash Championship was officially presented at the Royal Nautical Club of Tenerife (RCNT). The tournament will take place at the club's facilities from Friday, January 23rd, to Sunday, January 25th. Organized by the Royal Spanish Squash Federation (RFES) and the Canarian Squash Federation, the event will also be streamed live.

Key figures attended the presentation, including Carlos Díaz, the RCNT's first vice-president; Yolanda Moliné, Sports Councilor for the Island Council of Tenerife; Alicia Cebrián, Government Councilor for the Quality of Life Area at Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council; Alejandro Garbí Caro, representing the Royal Spanish Squash Federation; and David Labory, president of the Canarian Squash Federation.

Carlos Díaz noted that the National Championship will gather 37 athletes across both male and female categories. He added that the RCNT is particularly proud of the strong female presence, both in numbers and quality. David Labory, president of the Canarian Squash Federation, thanked the institutions for their support and the host club for its cooperation, stating that the RCNT "always makes it easier to host sports events."

Labory also expressed satisfaction with the Royal Spanish Squash Federation's trust, noting that they have been given the opportunity to organize not only this championship but also three other tournaments in the coming months. He added that RCNT athletes Alberto Mateo (male) and Daniela Medina (female) have good chances of winning medals at the Spanish Under-19 Squash Championship.

Yolanda Moliné, Sports Councilor for the Island Council of Tenerife, spoke about Tenerife's long tradition in squash. She stressed that "such important events wouldn't be possible without the hard work of everyone involved, including individuals and institutions."

Alicia Cebrián, Government Councilor for the Quality of Life Area at Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, concluded the event. She stated it was "a pleasure to be part of presenting a top-level event that will make Santa Cruz a hub for national squash this weekend." She thanked the RCNT for organizing the championship with their usual professionalism and commitment. Cebrián added that the club is not only a sporting benchmark in the municipality but has also supported sports development in the capital for decades. She concluded by thanking everyone for their efforts, which make such major events possible and help put Santa Cruz on the national sports map.
