Spanish Man Arrested After Deploying Emergency Slide at Warsaw Airport

A 27-year-old Spanish man is in custody in Poland after a serious security breach at Warsaw Chopin Airport. According to the Polish Border Guard, the man caused a major disturbance on a flight arriving from Tenerife.

Throughout the flight, the passenger was reportedly hostile and refused to follow crew instructions. He eventually assaulted a flight attendant, forced open an emergency exit, and deployed the evacuation slide. He stepped onto the runway, where he was immediately detained by airport security.

While medical tests confirmed the man had not been drinking, he was so agitated that he required sedatives. He is currently being held in a detention center for foreigners and faces charges for violating air safety regulations. He will remain in Polish custody while authorities arrange his transfer to Spain, a process that could take up to three months.

This incident follows another recent case involving Spanish citizens in Warsaw, where four men were arrested for vandalizing the city's subway system. That group is currently in pretrial detention after stopping a train to spray-paint graffiti, causing €20,000 in damages. Under Polish law, they could face up to eight years in prison. Both events have led Polish authorities to increase security measures around critical infrastructure.
