Spain's basketball federation has banned player G.G. for three years and fined him €1,440 after he pushed and kicked a referee during a game on February 14, causing injuries.

Spain's basketball federation (FEB) has handed down a major ban to player G.G. from Toscones Corralejo, following an incident on February 14. The FEB says this decision aims to set a strong example against violence in sports. The player has been banned for three years and fined 1,440 euros.

This punishment comes after an incident during a game between Toscones Corralejo and Fuenlabrada. The 22-year-old player received a technical foul, then pushed the referee from behind, making him fall. The match report states the player then kicked the referee in the chest. The referee suffered injuries to his neck, back, and chest, and is still recovering.

The committee's decision highlights the federation's commitment to stopping violence on the court, which is crucial for the sport's integrity. Separately from the sports case, the referee has also reported the assault to the Civil Guard (Spanish police). This legal process is separate from the federation's decision. The opposing team, Fuenlabrada, also witnessed the incident, providing important testimony.
