Tenerife-born baker Miriam Hernández and her company, Baking Love London, have been named Best Wedding Cake Design of the Year at the second annual London Wedding Awards.

The UK’s creative baking industry is once again celebrating Spanish talent. At the second annual London Wedding Awards, Baking Love London—led by Tenerife-born Miriam Hernández—was named Best Wedding Cake Design of the Year. Based in North London, the company beat out several prestigious competitors, including Designer Cakes of London, Heart of Cake, and Grand Wedding Cakes.

Hernández, who hails from La Orotava, is a prime example of Spanish culinary expertise going global. After training in Spain, Venezuela, France, and the UK—including a stint with the Peyton and Byrne group—she launched her own business in 2017. Since then, she has built a stellar reputation for bespoke designs, earning a five-star rating and hundreds of glowing reviews from customers.

Baking Love London’s success has grown well beyond private weddings. The brand has become a favorite in the luxury and corporate sectors, working with high-profile names like Chelsea FC, Loewe, Rodial, and Love Corn. The company has also been featured in The Times. Alongside this commercial growth, Hernández is committed to social responsibility, donating one pound from every sale to My Medina Schools, a charity that provides educational resources to children in Dakar, Senegal.

For Hernández, this award is a major career milestone that highlights the heart and dedication she puts into her work. The recognition honors not only the beauty of her cakes but also her ability to run a successful family business that meets the high standards of London’s competitive market. The win cements her status as a leading figure in the British wedding industry, a sector that has become increasingly professional and focused on exclusive, high-end service since the pandemic.
