Spanish Artistic Swimming Championship Postponed Due to Tenerife Facility Closure
The Royal Spanish Swimming Federation has postponed the Spanish Artistic Swimming Championship in Tenerife due to the temporary closure of the CDAT facility amid unstable weather conditions.
Unstable weather in the Canary Islands has forced a major change to the national sports calendar. The Royal Spanish Swimming Federation announced that the Tenerife Aquatic Sports Center (CDAT) has been temporarily closed due to safety protocols under the Tenerife Island Emergency Plan. As a result, the Spanish Artistic Swimming Championship, originally scheduled for March 20–22, cannot go ahead as planned.
The federation is now working to reschedule the event, confirming that it still intends to host the competition in Puerto de la Cruz. This championship is a key event for the sport, as it brings together the country’s top talent, including national team members competing for their local clubs.
Closing public facilities during weather alerts is a standard safety measure in the Canary Islands to protect both staff and visitors. For the artistic swimming community, this delay means clubs must now adjust their training schedules while waiting for the federation to announce new dates.
