Spanish artist Jesús Hernández Verano is expanding his international reach with the presentation of his Risveglio project at the Pinta Lima art fair in Peru.

Contemporary Spanish art is gaining significant ground in Ibero-American markets, a trend highlighted by the growing presence of Spanish artists at major international events. Most recently, Tenerife-born artist Jesús Hernández Verano has been selected for the Main Section of Pinta Lima, which runs from April 23 to 26 at the Casa Prado de Miraflores in Peru.

The Madrid-based gallery Ponce+Robles is presenting Hernández Verano’s Risveglio project at the fair. Pinta Lima serves as a key hub for collectors, curators, and gallerists, aiming to showcase top-tier Latin American art while connecting regional talent with the global art scene.

For Hernández Verano, this exhibition marks a major milestone in a career spanning more than 20 years. His work—which includes sculpture, drawing, and installation—explores the intersection of personal emotions like grief and desire with broader social and political structures. A graduate of the Fine Arts faculties in Madrid and Cuenca, he uses his own experiences to study how physical spaces and objects shape our lives.

His international success follows a period of strong momentum at home, supported by the Fundación Cajacanarias. After his well-received exhibition Temblando, me llevo el sol a la boca at TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes and the success of his show Horadar la sombra in Madrid, his work has been acquired by several prominent private collections. Following his appearance at ARCO 26, his debut in Lima confirms a strategy to move beyond local borders, placing Canarian art firmly within the global market.
