On September 2, 2026, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces will hold coordinated demonstrations in over 260 locations to show institutional solidarity with the city of Ceuta.

On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, towns and cities across Spain will hold a coordinated demonstration to show their support for Ceuta. Organized by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), the event will take place in over 260 locations at 8:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. in the Canary Islands).

The mobilization is intended to show institutional unity and solidarity with the people of Ceuta during a time of crisis. FEMP president María José García-Pelayo stated that local governments cannot ignore the challenges facing the autonomous city. She emphasized that the gatherings are meant to support Ceuta’s citizens rather than serve as a political attack against other groups.

This event highlights the vital role of local councils in managing emergencies and providing stability during national uncertainty. As political tensions remain high, the scale of this mobilization will also serve as a test of how different political parties respond to the ongoing situation in Ceuta.
