Spain's traditional Christmas Lottery, offering €2.772 billion in prizes from €20 tickets, will hold its 2025 draw on December 22nd, with sales closing December 21st.

The Christmas Lottery, a Spanish tradition since 1812, is once again bringing excitement across Spain, including places like Tenerife. Everyone hopes to win, but predicting the winning number is impossible.

People in Tenerife, like many others, often look for "lucky" numbers, those with historically common endings, or numbers linked to important dates when choosing their tickets for the 2025 Christmas Lottery.

Following tradition, tickets for the 2025 Extraordinary Christmas Lottery Draw went on sale last July, when Spain's national lottery operator started selling them. This year, there are 198 series, each with 100,000 numbers. The total value of all tickets is 3.96 billion euros. Of this, 70% – a massive 2.772 billion euros – will be given out as prizes.

Like other Spaniards, people in Tenerife often buy tickets from different lottery shops when they travel to other Spanish towns, hoping to boost their chances in this special draw.

The price of each ticket is 20 euros.

While many wait until the last moment to make their purchase, to ensure they get a ticket, it's important to remember these deadlines:

Since December 21st falls on a Sunday this year, many lottery shops might be closed. While the official sales deadline is December 21st at 10:00 PM, there's no guarantee that physical shops will be open then.

If you don't want to miss out on a ticket, make sure to get one before December 20th.

The 2025 Christmas Lottery Draw will be held on December 22nd, starting at 8:00 AM (Canary Islands time). The draw doesn't have a fixed end time, but it typically runs for three to four hours, usually finishing around 12:30 PM (Canary Islands time).
