
Soprano Raquel Lojendio Tours Canary Islands with 'Song of Two Worlds'
Tenerife soprano Raquel Lojendio and pianist Chiky Martín will tour La Palma, La Gomera, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura from February 3-7, presenting their "Canto de dos mundos" program of Spanish and South American music as part of the 42nd International Music Festival of the Canary Islands.
Tenerife soprano Raquel Lojendio is set to tour several islands next week. This follows her recent performance in a tribute concert to Manuel de Falla in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, where she sang the lead role in La vida breve with the RTVE Orchestra and Choir. Her upcoming tour, part of the 42nd International Music Festival of the Canary Islands (FIMC), will feature pianist Chiky Martín. Together, they will present a musical journey exploring both sides of the Atlantic.
The tour, titled "Canto de dos mundos" (Song of Two Worlds), will run from February 3 to 7. They will perform in La Palma, La Gomera, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura. The program will showcase music from Spain, Argentina, and Brazil, featuring pieces by renowned composers such as Lorca, Falla, Halffter, Guastavino, Ginastera, Lorenzo Fernández, Ovalle, and Villa-Lobos.
The concerts are scheduled as follows:
- Tuesday, February 3: Benahoarita Museum in Los Llanos de Aridane, La Palma
- Wednesday, February 4: La Gomera Auditorium
- Friday, February 6: El Salinero Theater, Lanzarote
- Saturday, February 7: Training and Congress Palace, Fuerteventura
Lojendio arrives in the Canary Islands from Madrid, where she is currently starring in Goyescas at the Teatro de La Zarzuela. She explains the concert program: "The first part will feature what I consider the most beautiful Spanish repertoire, including songs by Lorca, Rodolfo Halffter's Marinero en tierra, and Falla's Siete canciones populares. In the second part, we will explore the South American repertoire, with works by composers like Guastavino and Villa-Lobos."
Tickets for the concerts cost 25 euros. They can be purchased online at www.festivaldecanarias.com, through the venues' usual ticket platforms, or at their box offices.
