Soplo de Letras Festival Moves to University of La Laguna for 2026 Edition
The Soplo de Letras Festival is hosting its third edition at the University of La Laguna’s Guajara Campus, showcasing a multidisciplinary lineup of comedy and music to promote Canarian talent.
The Soplo de Letras Festival is marking a new chapter for large-scale events in the Canary Islands by moving its 2026 edition to the University of La Laguna’s Guajara Campus. By hosting the festival in the Faculty of Fine Arts parking lot, the La Laguna City Council and the university are working together to make better use of public spaces for cultural growth.
Taking place this weekend, the festival is a multidisciplinary event blending music and comedy. During the launch, Mayor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez and municipal officials Adrián del Castillo and Estefanía Díaz highlighted the festival’s goal of pairing local talent with nationally known performers. Broadcaster Inés Hernand also spoke at the event, emphasizing the need to move culture out of traditional venues and into more accessible, alternative public spaces.
The festival is split into two main themes. Friday’s opening focused on comedy and digital storytelling, featuring performances by Ignatius Farray, Martita de Graná, Ignasi Taltavull, Petite Lorena, La Chirichota, and DJ Kiki. Saturday’s schedule shifts to live music, showcasing bands like Ultraligera, Iseo & Dodosound, Javi Medina, and Paco Pecado, alongside local emerging artists such as Sofía Dorta, Mägua, Isa Izquierdo, Pimienta Selectoras, and AkadeBellaka.
The festival will conclude on June 19th with a special event at the Teatro Leal, focusing on literature and film. Now in its third year, the festival is supported by several organizations, including the Canary Institute of Cultural Development, Canary Youth, Tourism of Tenerife, and various local foundations. According to the festival’s co-directors, the initiative aims to help Canarian artists gain professional recognition beyond the islands.
