Six Cars Burned in Tenerife Workshop Blaze

An early Friday morning fire at a mechanical workshop in Icod de los Vinos, northern Tenerife, burned out six cars and damaged two motorcycles.

Early Friday morning, a fire at a mechanical workshop in northern Tenerife burned out six cars and damaged two motorcycles.

The blaze broke out after 3:00 AM at a vehicle repair company on Ángel Guimerá street, in the San Felipe area of Icod de los Vinos.

Police from the Civil Guard's Judicial Police Team in Puerto de la Cruz are investigating the cause of the fire.

Neighbors spotted flames inside the workshop and called the owner at 3:10 AM. The 1-1-2 emergency center then dispatched firefighters from Icod de los Vinos and La Orotava, along with volunteer firefighters from Icod.

Three fire engines arrived and quickly extinguished the flames. Firefighters tackled the blaze from multiple points to prevent it from spreading to nearby homes. They successfully cooled down the affected property and remained on Ángel Guimerá street until 7:30 AM.

Besides the six burned-out cars, two others suffered damage from intense heat. Some of the affected vehicles were located outside the workshop.

Icod Local Police and Civil Guard officers from the main post also assisted at the scene.

On Friday morning, city council technicians visited the workshop to assess any structural damage caused by the fire.
