A state of emergency has been declared in the Canary Islands due to the heatwave, with rescuers evacuating exhausted tourists and assisting those who have become lost.
Rescuers in the Canary Islands have been working tirelessly these days. In Santiago del Teide, Tenerife, a group of tourists who fell ill due to the heat were evacuated by helicopters. Medics examined four of them and took them to the hospital.
In addition, in San Sebastián de La Gomera, they helped a tourist who got lost after straying from the route. And in Alajeró, assistance was provided to a woman who felt severe fatigue.
Due to the high air temperature, a state of emergency has been declared in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and Tenerife. A warning is in effect in La Palma, El Hierro, and La Gomera.
Rescuers advise people not to go outside during the day in hot weather, to avoid physical exertion and the sun, and to try to stay in the shade.
